1. Tổng quan về phần thi IELTS Speaking
Speaking là phần thi không thể thiếu trong bài thi IELTS. Thời lượng dành ra cho bài thi này sẽ kéo dài từ 11 - 14 phút; với ba phần thi tổng cộng bao gồm Part 1, Part 2, Part 3. Tuy thời gian hoàn thành kỹ năng này khá ít so với ba kỹ năng còn lại, phần thi IELTS Speaking vẫn chiếm 25% điểm số của toàn bộ bài thi.
Part 1: Giám khảo sẽ đặt những câu hỏi rất chung về bản thân của thí sinh. Đó sẽ những câu hỏi khá gần gũi xoay quanh cuộc sống hằng ngày như gia đình, nhà cửa, sở thích và trình độ học tập. IELTS Speaking Part 1 sẽ kéo dài từ 4 - 5 phút.
Part 2: Trong phần thi thứ hai, giám khảo sẽ cho bạn một tờ giấy đi kèm với đề bài cụ thể để thảo luận về chủ đề được cho. Bạn sẽ có khoảng một phút suy nghĩ về đề bài và trình bày câu trả lời của mình trong 2 phút. Bên cạnh đó, giám khảo cũng có thể hỏi bạn một vài câu hỏi để kết thúc bài thi.
Part 3: Các câu hỏi giám khảo đưa ra trong phần 3 sẽ giúp bạn thảo luận thêm về vấn đề trước đó. Bên cạnh đó thí sinh sẽ được đặt câu hỏi để bàn luận thêm và chiều sâu của đề bài.

When I read the cue card, the first thing springing to mind was to become an interpreter.
An interpreter is someone who has acquired an oral fluency in another language apart from his mother tongue. His mission is to convert spoken language from one language to another to help people from different countries communicate with one another.
It entails listening to, understanding and memorizing content in the source language, then reproducing it in the target language. Sometimes, an interpreter has to cope with stress and take his self-control when dealing with difficult speakers. Not everyone speaks with precision and clarity and of course, accents can be tricky to discern. Interpreters, therefore, need to keep their cool and remain relaxed, even in seemingly tough situations. I think the job would be very technically demanding and challenging, but very exhilarating to do.
The reason I have a particular liking for this job is that I think I have developed essential skills to do it well. I study the English language at university and to be specific, my major is translation and interpreting. Despite the fact that I have yet to be fluent in English, I think I will be in the next few years as I keep practicing the language and improving myself in other fields to broaden my horizons. On top of that, it may give me opportunities to travel or to work in a multi-national company where I will meet new people from all over the world, and learn about their cultures and experiences.
