I'd like to talk about one of Vietnam's most cherished legends — the story of the Returned Sword, or "Sự Tích Hồ Gươm" in Vietnamese. It's a tale that has been passed down through generations and is deeply ingrained in our national identity.
The story is set in the 15th century, during a time when Vietnam was under the oppressive rule of the Ming Dynasty from China. According to legend, a courageous king named Lê Lợi was given a magical sword by the Dragon King beneath the lake. Armed with this divine weapon, he led his people in a decade-long resistance and ultimately repelled the invaders from the country.
