1. IELTS Speaking Part 1 Sample Answers – Celebrities / Famous People

Question: Who is your favorite celebrity in your country?

Frankly speaking, I do not follow Vietnamese celebrities closely since I am not really into local showbiz. Of course, I can name a few like Bich Phuong, Hoa Minzy, Duc Phuc, Thanh Duy, Truc Nhan… but if you ask me whether I idolize anyone, the answer would be no.

  • To idolize someone: to admire or worship someone

  • As a matter of fact: in reality

Question: What types of people become famous in your country?

In my country, celebrities are not just rich or powerful individuals. Music artists, actors, cultural icons, and successful athletes are also well-known. There are also some infamous people who do controversial things just to gain short-term fame and earn a decent amount of money.

Band 7+ Vocabulary:

  • To fall into (a category)

  • Infamous: notorious, well-known for negative reasons

  • Controversial: causing debate

  • To gain fame: to become famous

  • A good amount of money: a considerable sum

Question: Would you like to be a famous person?

No, it is not worth it. I prefer living an ordinary life with my loved ones rather than becoming a public figure who may suffer from various issues when the spotlight fades.

Band 7+ Vocabulary:

  • Ordinary: simple or regular

  • Public figure: someone well-known to the public

  • When the curtains close: when fame fades away

2. IELTS Speaking Part 2 Sample Answer – Celebrities / Famous People

Common Task: Describe a famous person you admire

To avoid preparing separately for each variation of this task, group similar topics and build a general outline that covers key points:

  • Who the person is and where they are from

  • Why they are famous

  • Why you admire them

  • What you would do if you met them

Sample Answer: Describe a famous person not from your country you would like to meet

Meeting the four iconic members of BlackPink would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The group consists of Jisoo, Jennie, Rosé, and Lisa – four incredibly talented South Korean artists. Since their debut in 2016, I have been a fan.

BlackPink is renowned as the world’s most successful girl group. They have broken numerous world records, including the most viewed music videos in 24 hours for “Kill This Love” and “How You Like That.” They also hold multiple Guinness World Records and are widely recognized for their contributions to the music industry.

Beyond their fame, I admire them for their command of the English language and the elegant way they present themselves. Even though I am not a huge K-pop fan, I am impressed by how they handle interviews and engage with fans.

If I had the chance to meet them, I would take loads of photos to decorate my workspace and would love to share a dinner to hear their stories and draw inspiration from their positive energy.

  • Once-in-a-lifetime opportunity

  • To debut

  • Renowned: well-known

  • Set the record for: to establish a record

  • Command of English: strong English ability

Sample Answer: Describe a celebrity you follow on social media

Following celebrities on social media makes fans feel more connected to them. I would like to talk about Nakamoto Yuta, a Japanese member of the Korean boy group NCT, whom I follow on Instagram.

I first discovered him in 2016 when his group debuted with the MV “Fire Truck.” At the time, I was learning Japanese, and his name caught my attention. I was hooked by his outstanding performance, emotional delivery, and charming smile.

What I admire most about Yuta is his dedication and kindness. He always shares thoughtful content, including inspirational messages and live streams where he interacts with fans from around the world. During those moments, he becomes a friend rather than just a star.

His positive mindset and strong work ethic have motivated me greatly. I believe he has reached the zenith of success thanks to his relentless efforts.

Being famous may sound glamorous, but it comes with many downsides such as extreme pressure from the public, lack of privacy, becoming a target for crimes, and even health problems. So while fame brings fortune, it also demands sacrifices.

Band 7+ Vocabulary:

  • Glamorous: attractive in an exciting way

  • Lack of privacy

  • Target for crime

Question: What can celebrities do to protect their privacy?

Famous people can monitor their public image, stay consistent in how they engage with media, and learn from the mistakes of others. Still, I believe that the invasion of privacy is inevitable for top stars. As the saying goes, the more you earn, the more you sacrifice.

Band 7+ Vocabulary:

  • Monitor: to track or manage

  • Consistent: stable or firm

  • Invasion of privacy: unauthorized intrusion

  • Inevitable: unavoidable

Question: Is it easier to become famous today than in the past?

Yes, it is generally easier to gain fame today thanks to technological advancements. Social media allows people to reach a wide audience with fewer barriers.
