I would like to recount an experience from Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, when I visited Hoan Kiem Lakes pedestrian street. It is an exuberant place during the holiday season, with immense crowds gathering to celebrate and watch the fireworks.

A couple of years ago, we decided to welcome New Years Eve there. We expected a festive ambiance and a dazzling display at midnight. As predicted, the streets were teeming with people, creating a vibrant and electrifying atmosphere. Street performers, food vendors, and ornate decorations added to the charm.

We went mainly because it is one of the citys most iconic places to immerse ourselves in the euphoria of the New Year. Everyone seemed in high spirits, and we wanted to share that communal joy. The fireworks over the lake are renowned, so we believed it would be a memorable way to start the year.

To be honest, I had mixed feelings. On one hand, it was exhilarating to be part of such a grand celebration, surrounded by cheerful people and mesmerizing decor. The fireworks were spectacular, making it an indelible experience. On the other hand, the crowd was overpowering at times. Moving through the streets was difficult, and we had to wait a long time before the fireworks began. Still, in retrospect, I am glad we went because it was a treasured moment with my family.
