The wait is over

The government of Canada has announced a series of new measures in the coming days aimed at further relaxing the border restrictions currently in place.

From 9 August 2021, air travellers - including international students - will no longer be required to complete a mandatory 3-night stay in a government-authorised hotel. A new randomised testing regime will be implemented for vaccinated travellers, while unvaccinated travellers will continue to undergo mandatory on-arrival and day-8 testing.

In addition, fully vaccinated citizens and permanent residents of the US (and currently residing in the US) will be able to enter Canada for discretionary (non-essential) travel provided they meet all the required criteria.

Despite the eased restrictions, international students must have a 14-day quarantine plan in case it is determined at the border that they do not meet the conditions required to be exempt from quarantine.
