Meet Truss Lertkasaemrithai, an IDP IELTS Ambassador Generation 2 and Y12 MED A student from Newton Sixth Form. With a clear ambition to become a doctor, he sees the IELTS test as a crucial stepping stone toward that goal. Let’s follow his path and the ideas that guide him.

What are your goals and motivations for choosing IELTS?

My goal is very clear. I plan to use my score to apply to a Faculty of Medicine, where an IELTS result is required for the Portfolio round. So my biggest motivation is my dream of becoming a doctor.

How do you plan your preparation while keeping up with school?

Right now I am studying IELTS steadily, then I will focus on past papers seriously for about one month before the real test. For me, time management is the most important factor because I need to balance schoolwork and IELTS preparation at the same time.

The parts I find most challenging are Writing and Speaking. My approach is to read a lot for Writing to build structure and vocabulary, and for Speaking to find chances to talk with friends in English as often as possible.

For me, time management is the key. - Truss

Why did you decide to join the IDP IELTS Ambassador program?

I wanted new experiences, and I especially wanted to share knowledge and encouragement with juniors and friends who are preparing for IELTS too. When I found out I had been selected, I was very happy to be part of the program and determined to do my best. Creating monthly content was not difficult for me because inspiring others is something I already enjoy.

Did this program change or develop you in any way?

I feel I have become more friendly and more myself. I would like to thank the IDP team for their continuous support and help.

Finally, tell us about your real test day and any message for friends.

I took the test at Newton Sixth Form at Siam Scape on the 9th floor. Traveling by BTS Skytrain was very convenient. I did not feel nervous during the test, especially in the Speaking section, which went by very quickly.

For friends who are preparing, I want to leave a short message. “Determination is the key to success.”
