To enhance fairness and standardization in the IELTS test environment, IDP IELTS Official Test Centres will implement updated regulations regarding test materials and permitted items starting May 1, 2025. All candidates are required to read and follow the new guidelines below:
✏️ Only Stationery Provided by the Test Centre May Be Used
From the effective date, candidates will not be allowed to bring personal stationery into the test room, including pens, pencils, erasers, or any writing tools. All necessary stationery will be provided by the test centre.
Applicable for both paper-based and computer-delivered tests, stationery will be distributed as follows:
Paper-based test: One black ballpoint pen
Computer-delivered test: One pencil + notepaper
For Paper-based Test Candidates: How to Make Corrections
To revise your answers, simply cross out the incorrect response and write the correct answer beside it.
To amend personal details (e.g., name or candidate number), cross out the incorrect information, write the correct version in the blank space, and raise your hand to inform the invigilator immediately.
⚠️ Ban Extension for Violations: Now Up to 5 Years
Previously, serious test misconduct could result in disqualification and a 2-year ban. Starting May 1, 2025, candidates found guilty of major violations may face a global 5-year ban from taking the IELTS test, with no refunds or score releases.
Violations include but are not limited to:
Impersonation or using a proxy test-taker
Forging or altering test results
Changing seats without authorization
Copying answers from others
Leaking or reproducing test content
Damaging or tearing test materials
Opening the test paper before instructed
Continuing to write after the test has ended
Disrupting the test room or other acts of cheating as deemed by the test centre
Bringing personal stationery into the exam room (newly added rule)
※ Any misconduct discovered after the test may lead to cancellation of your score and legal action in accordance with applicable regulations.
All candidates must follow these updated policies to ensure a smooth and fair testing experience. For questions or clarifications, please contact your local IDP IELTS Test Centre.
📅 These policies will come into effect on May 1, 2025. Please prepare accordingly and comply with the new regulations.
