IELTS for migration

If you plan to migrate to an English-speaking country, you will be asked to provide proof of your English language skills. People migrating to Australia, Canada and New Zealand must take the IELTS General Training test.

In Australia, you can use your IELTS test scores to obtain various types of visas, including to become a permanent resident.

The New Zealand government uses IELTS to grant visas related to skilled foreign workers, investors, and employers or employment-related permanent residents.

The Canadian government usually requires proof of English language proficiency for employment and migration purposes. The IELTS General Training test is the only internationally available English language test that IRCC accepts. You will need to take the IELTS test for UKVI if you plan to migrate to the UK. There are several tests you can take - IELTS for Academic UKVI, IELTS for General Training UKVI, and IELTS for Life Skills UKVI. Check the IELTS requirements of various host organisations for migration.
