If you want to cancel or postpone your IELTS test, you must do this at least 5 weeks before your test date.

Download the Request a refund or test day transfer form and submit it to your relevant test centre.

How to cancel your IELTS test?

1. Login via Candidate Login section

2. For 15-34 days, you will have to submit your cancellation request by providing supporting documents.

3. For 34 days and above (via Online payment), you can cancel your test by just stating the reason.

4. Click on the 'Upload' button to submit your documents.

5. Check for an acknowledgment pop-up.

6. IELTS team will contact you within 3 working days to confirm your cancellation.

7. After cancellation is approved, your refund will be processed within 10-12 working days after deducting administrative charges.

If you do not appear on test day without notifying the test centre, you will not get a refund of your IELTS test fee. If you want to retake the test on another day, you must register and pay the test fee again.

Cancelling 5 weeks ahead of your test date

If you cancel your IELTS test 5 weeks ahead of your test day you will receive a refund, minus a 25% administrative fee.

Cancelling within 5 weeks of your test date

If you cancel your IELTS test within 5 weeks of your test date you will receive no refund.

If you cancel or transfer your test date within 5 weeks of your test date or fail to appear for your scheduled IELTS test, you can get a refund, minus a 25% administrative fee. This is to cover the processing fee which is 25% of your current test fee.

You can get a refund if you can provide evidence within 5 days that your ability to sit the test will be or has been affected by serious illness or cause:

  • Serious Illness Hospital admission or serious injury

  • Loss or bereavement Death of a close family member

  • Hardship or trauma Victim of a crime, victim of a traffic accident

  • Military Service

If this is you, you must complete a Request for Refund or Test Day Transfer Form , and attach appropriate documentation and evidence when you submit the form to the test centre you booked at. These supporting documents may include medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner, a death notice or certificate, or a police report.

If the refund request has been approved, you will be notified via email together with a refund request form that you will need to fill-in out so the test centre where you booked your test can process the refund. Processing of refund will take around 3 to 4 weeks to comes.

Both, the Request for a Refund and Test Day Transfer are subject to verification before approval or rejection.
