With artificial intelligence (AI) becoming a bigger part of everyday life, it’s no surprise this is one of the most viewed questions in the IELTS Community.

Practice tests are a key part of IELTS preparation, so it’s understandable that test takers are wondering how mock tests compare to the real IELTS test.

In the short video above, IELTS expert Reza Tasviri explains why choosing official IELTS practice tests is important.

The Listening section of the IELTS test runs for approximately 30 minutes and covers a range of question types. As the audio is only played once, IELTS test takers are keen to find out what they can do to improve their skills before test day.

FAQ #4: Can I ask for help in the IELTS test if I don’t understand a question?

Are you wondering if you can ask the invigilators for help during IELTS? Other test takers want to know too.

Here’s the answer that IELTS expert Jess Christie shared in IELTS Community:

"If you don't understand the instructions or you are having trouble navigating the test platform, you can definitely ask for help from the test day staff. They are there to help you navigate the test. However, they will not be able to answer any questions or provide help regarding the actual questions. For example, they will help you if you can't figure out how to move on to the next question, but they won't be able to help if you are unsure what a word means."

Test day is a frequently searched topic in IELTS Community, especially when it comes to questions around the Speaking test. Many test takers want to know whether they can ask the examiner for a different topic if they’re not sure how to respond.

While the short answer is no, IELTS expert Linda Alley shares what you can do to build your confidence and feel more prepared for test day in the video above.

FAQ #6: Are the IELTS Reading texts all from one topic or varied topics?

Another popular question was about IELTS Reading as IELTS Community visitors want to know what to expect during this 60-minute test section.

This is what our IELTS expert, Rocco Nigro, says about this:

"There are three sections in the IELTS Reading test, and each one normally covers a different topic. Also, if you take an IELTS test on a different occasion, you will notice that the topics will most likely be different again."
