Thinking about building a future in Australia?
With IELTS you can.
Today the Australian Department of Home Affairs renewed their longstanding agreement with the IELTS partners (IDP Education, the British Council and Cambridge University Press & Assessment).
This new three-year agreement means that you can continue to use your IELTS score as trusted proof of your English language ability for work, study and migration in Australia.
“We are honoured to continue this long-standing relationship with the Department of Home Affairs,” said Simon Emmett, Chief Partner Officer at IDP Education. “This new agreement reflects our shared commitment to maintaining integrity, quality and fairness in English language testing, values that sit at the heart of the Australian migration system,” he said.
What about IELTS One Skill Retake?
The renewed agreement means that the Australian government will continue to accept IELTS One Skill Retake (OSR) for most visa subclasses**
With IELTS, you can work towards your goals with confidence as it is the only major English test that allows you to retake any section of the test (Listening, Reading, Writing or Speaking) if you want to improve your score without resitting the whole test.
** For Australian visa purposes, the Department accepts IELTS test results that include OSR, with the exception of applications for visa subclasses 476, 482, and 485, which need scores from a full IELTS test taken in one sitting.
Why choose IELTS?
IELTS continues to remain a popular choice for living, working and studying in Australia. Here’s why:
Recognised worldwide: IELTS is trusted by more than 12,500 organisations globally, including the Australian government.
Global availability: Test centre locations in more than 130 countries make it easy to find one near you.
Face-to-face Speaking test: Unlike most other high-stakes English language tests, IELTS gives you the opportunity to do a speaking test face-to-face with a real human. You can use your results as proof of real-life communication skills to prospective employers and educational institutions.
Quality and fairness: IELTS is carefully researched and designed by international language testing experts to make sure it is reliable and accurate.
Flexible test options: A choice of test formats means you can take IELTS your way. Our test centres offer IELTS on paper or IELTS on computer.
