IELTS on computer test

The IELTS test takes place on a computer for both the General Training and Academic tests. You will complete the Reading, Listening, and Writing parts of the test using a computer in an IELTS test centre. All answers will be typed on the screen. You will also be able to write notes on a notes sheet during the Listening test.

The IELTS Speaking test is a face-to-face interview with an examiner in a private, quiet room.

IELTS on computer is offered in over 100 countries, and results are typically available within 1 to 5 days.

Writing on Paper enables you to take your IELTS test on computer and complete the Writing component by hand in selected countries.

If you choose Writing on Paper, your Writing component tasks will be shown on screen, but you’ll complete the tasks in pen on an IELTS Writing Answer Sheet.

The option of Writing on Paper increases flexibility and benefits those with different levels of digital confidence, so you can take the IELTS test with confidence.

Results

You will receive your results within 5 days after your test date. The IELTS Test Results Form (TRF) will not specify that the Writing on Paper option was chosen.
