You can choose to take IELTS on Computer for both the General Training and Academic tests. The test format, question types, time allocated to each test part and content is the same for both IELTS on Computer and IELTS on Paper. The only difference is in your test day experience. If you choose to complete the computer-based version of the test, you will do the Reading, Listening, and Writing parts of the test using a computer. All answers will be typed on the screen. You will also be able to write notes on a notes sheet during the Listening test.

The IELTS Speaking portion remains the same for IELTS on Computer assessments, with a face-to-face interview with an examiner. The Speaking test will be completed either just before, or just after the Reading, Listening, and Writing test parts.

How the IELTS on Computer test works

Listening

At the end of the computer-delivered assessment, a 2-minute review period is allotted for you to check your answers.

Reading

Writing

The Writing section in the IELTS on Computer requires completion of two tasks within 60 minutes.
