If you want to cancel or postpone your IELTS test, you must do this at least 5 weeks before your test date.
Download the Request a refund or test day transfer form and submit it to your relevant test centre.
If you do not appear on test day without notifying the test centre, you will not get a refund of your test fee. If you want to retake the test on another day, you must register and pay the test fee again.
Cancelling 5 weeks ahead of your test date
If you cancel your IELTS test 5 weeks ahead of your test day you will receive a refund, minus a 25% administrative fee.

Cancel 5+ weeks before test day → Refund = Test fee – 25% administrative fee.
2. Cancelling Within 5 Weeks
Cancel within 5 weeks → No refund unless special circumstances apply.
If approved for special circumstances → Refund = Test fee – 25% administrative fee.
Special Circumstances for Refund
Refunds may be granted if you provide evidence (within 5 days) that you are unable to take the test due to:
Serious illness – hospital admission, serious injury
Loss or bereavement – death of a close family member
Hardship or trauma – victim of a crime or traffic accident
Military service
Required Documentation
When applying, attach:
Medical certificate from a qualified medical practitioner
Death certificate or notice
Police report
Any other official proof related to your claim

Download the Request for Refund or Test Day Transfer Form.
Complete the form and attach required documents.
Submit to the test centre where you booked your test.
Refund approval will be confirmed by email.
Fill in the refund request form sent via email.
Processing takes 3–4 weeks.
Important Notes
Failing to appear on test day without notifying the centre → No refund.
To retake the test, you must register and pay again.
