Additional Costs You Should Know About

Taking the IELTS is a critical step in your educational or immigration journey, so the decision to cancel or reschedule/postpone a test should not be taken lightly. However, things happen, and it is sometimes necessary to cancel or reschedule. This must be done following strict guidelines due to the serious nature of the exam. It should also be done as early as possible.

Here's what you need to know about the process and costs involved:

Rescheduling Fee

  • If you reschedule your application more than five (5) weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration charge.

  • If you reschedule within five (5) weeks of the test date, you will be charged the full fee unless you have a serious medical reason.

  • If you provide a medical certificate within five (5) days of the test date, you will receive a refund minus the local administrative cost.

Cancellation Fee

  • If you cancel your application more than five (5) weeks before the test date, you will receive a refund minus an administration charge.

  • If you cancel within five (5) weeks of the test date, you will be charged the full fee unless you have a serious medical reason.

If you experience any difficulty getting to your test on a test day, please inform the test centre immediately. A serious cause must be proven if you’re late and unable to take your IELTS. Examples of serious causes include serious illness, loss or bereavement, hardship/trauma, and military service. The test centre will require you to prove any serious cause and will inform you of the documentation you’ll need to provide. Upon proving a serious cause, the test centre may offer you a test on the next available test date.

Extra Test Report Form Fee

For each IELTS test taken, you will automatically receive one Test Report Form (TRF). We strongly recommend keeping this original copy in a safe place. Do not send your copy to agencies or institutions. The procedure for requesting additional TRFs differs depending on which test centre you took your test. At the time of your registration for the test, you will also be able to request copies of the TRF to be sent to 5 additional institutions or organizations. Any request for more TRFs may require an additional fee, which will vary depending upon the supporting test centre.
