IELTS Online is the same test, same questions, and same format as the IELTS Academic test taken in a test centre. The difference is that now you can take it from anywhere. All you need is a computer with a webcam, a stable internet connection, and a well-lit private space, and you're good to go!
IELTS Online is designed for test takers who want the convenience of taking their IELTS test at home or can't easily get to a test centre.
Speaking test sessions are about 15 minutes and are available Monday to Friday. Written test sessions cover Listening, Reading and Writing, and are 2.5 hours long. Written test sessions are available Tuesday to Saturday. Your Speaking Test must be completed at least a day before your Written test.
Ghana test takers who want to book IELTS Online can choose from one of three session times (morning, afternoon and night), typically starting at 6am, 1pm and 7pm CEST.
Morning | Afternoon | Evening |
---|---|---|
From 6 A.M CEST | From 1 P.M CEST | From 7 P.M CEST |
The cost to book an IELTS Academic Online test is similar to the cost of taking IELTS Academic at a test centre. The booking price includes the session for the Speaking Test and a separate session for the Listening, Reading, and Writing sections.
You can check the price of your IELTS Online test by using this booking link. Choose your preferred testing dates and times, and a price will be shown before you book (please note the price does not change based on the dates or times you choose).
Your results will usually be available within 6 days after your last test session. Test takers who have sat IELTS Online will be notified by email as soon as their results are available.
IELTS Online is widely accepted by colleges, universities and training institutions. However, it’s important to check whether your institution recognises IELTS Online before you book your test. If you’re taking IELTS for a visa or immigration purposes, you’ll need to take the test in an official IELTS test centre.
You can prepare for IELTS Online in the same way that you would prepare for an IELTS test in a test centre. To make sure you understand what to expect on your test day, we recommend you view the IELTS Online tutorial videos, read the test format, and practice with the IELTS Online familiarisation tests. For more IELTS preparation material, visit IELTS Prepare.
Before you take IELTS Online, it's important that you understand the set-up and system requirements for taking the test from home. Visit IELTS Online equipment and system requirements for all the information you need. This includes information on what items are allowed and not allowed during the test, along with resources on how to get support.
